TECHNOLOGY & MAINTENANCE COUNCIL
July 1, 2017
Dear Trucking Industry Professional:
As TMC Executive Director, I invite you to attend ATA’s Technology & Maintenance
Council’s 2017 Fall Meeting, Sept. 16-21, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in
Orlando, Fla. Once again, TMC’s Fall Meeting features a strong slate of educational
sessions for equipment professionals, as well as a host of activity geared for truck
technicians. The theme of TMC’s 2017 Fall Meeting — Unlocking Technology’s Promise
— centers around finding answers to the environmental, economic and regulatory
challenges that face our industry.
In addition, TMC is holding North America’s 13th annual National Technician
Skills Competitions September 16-18. The event — TMCSuperTech 2017 — will
feature two separate competitions — our traditional track and a unique track (now in
its second year) for trailer technicians. The event showcases our industry’s professional
commercial vehicle technicians, who will compete for top honors and valuable prizes as
they demonstrate their diagnostic abilities through a series of skills stations. Organized
by TMC’s Professional Technician Development Committee (PTDC), TMCSuperTech
2017 will this year start Saturday evening and conclude Monday evening. Awards
will be given to the top three technicians and skills station winners during Tuesday
evening’s Awards Banquet. This year also features our fourth Student Technician Skills
Competition, TMCFutureTech 2017. All meeting attendees are welcome to observe the
contests, so stop by and see what TMCSuperTech/TMCFutureTech is all about.
The Council is also offering the PTDC Technician Training Fair. The Fair will offer
hands-on training sessions in areas such as preventive maintenance, fuel filtration
technology, and fan drive design and maintenance. These sessions are being organized
by TMC’s Professional Technician Development Committee, which exists to increase
technician training opportunities and involvement within the Council. The training fair
will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
