Welcome to Atlanta
AGreetings:
s the Mayor of the City of Atlanta, I am pleased to extend
a warm welcome to the attendees of the American Public
Transportation Association (APTA) Annual Meeting
and Expo.
Th e APTA Annual Meeting is an opportunity for leading
corporations and providers in the transportation fi eld to
gather and discover emerging technology developments that
will advance public transportation. Th is year’s event will gather
over 800 global exhibitors to explore new visions and showcase the latest
industry inventions and services. Th e annual meeting will welcome more
than 12,000 industry peers to exchange and discover inventive solutions to
enhance the future of the public transportation industry. I am confi dent this
meeting will provide your members with an important forum to network,
empower and innovate.
Atlanta is the perfect location for such a conveying. For the past seven
years, my Administration has worked to build a better, more sustainable city
that is ready to compete in the 21st century economy. We are investing more
than $550 million in infrastructure and transportation, which we believe will
put Atlanta on the path to be one of the most connected cities in the country.
Th rough our Renew Atlanta and TSPLOST programs, we will eliminate an
infrastructure backlog, modernize our transportation system and expand
the region’s transit system and mobility options for the fi rst time in decades.
While in our city, I encourage attendees to explore the many forms of
transportation and attractions Atlanta has to off er. On behalf of the people of
Atlanta, we invite you to share in our Southern hospitality, sample cuisine at
our many fi ne restaurants and enjoy the rich and diverse heritage of our city.
