Meritor Announces 79000
Axle for Transit Bus Segment
Meritor, Inc. announced the launch of its
next-generation 79000 single-reduction
drive axle for transit buses with a lifespan
three times longer than previous off erings.
It is available to OEMs in early 2018.
Meritor’s new axle is designed to help
municipal transit fl eets meet federal and
industry durability guidelines. The new
79000 axle is a direct replacement of
Meritor’s 71000 axle, with the same packaging
and suspension interfaces, wheelends
brakes and wear components for
seamless integration of the new axle into
transit fl eets.

Vapor Outside Sliding Plug Door (OSSP)
includes a patented, electric actuator that
minimizes space claim in the header area
while maximizing clear door opening to
facilitate passenger ingress and egress. The
Vapor OSSP is engineered for smooth and
quiet operation, and easy installation with
minimal adjustments.

Technology Collaboration
Will Soon Power New Gillig
Battery-Electric Buses
Gillig LLC and Cummins Inc. announced
their electrifi ed power partnership. The
technical collaboration work focuses
on integrating and optimizing new battery
electric technology from Cummins
that will soon power Gillig zero-emissions
transit buses.
The technical development agreement
was announced by Derek Maunus, President
of Gillig, and Amy Boerger, Cummins
