ENGINES & DRIVETRAINS
Formulated to provide
extended drain capability
TRAXON Synthetic MTF 75W-80 Commercial
Vehicle Manual Transmission Fluid, from Petro-
Canada Lubricants, is formulated to provide
extended drain capability (up to 250,000 miles),
deliver all-weather protection and reduce maintenance
costs. This product is recommended for
extended drain service in heavy duty (Class 6, 7
and 8) manual transmissions, and has been fully
approved by Volvo and Mack for use in their synchronized
automated manual transmission applications
(Volvo I-Shift and Mack mDRIVE). The product
has been specifically formulated to limit drag losses
and reduce fuel consumption versus conventional
manual transmission fluid and API GL-4 axle SAE
80W-90 / 75W-90 oils or higher viscosity grades. It
also delivers exceptional oxidation stability to resist
deposits and sludge formation which reduces issues
with transmission shifting, system efficiency and
equipment functionality.

Includes data acquisition
The G-TEC Heated Cooler Line Flusher, No.
TTCF-8DAQ, cleans out the cooler lines and heat
exchanger prior to installing a transmission. This
tool removes contamination in the cooling system
by melting down waxy varnish residue from burnt
automatic transmission fluid and by purging the
metal particles, clutch materials and other contaminants
from the system. Only by heating the
cooling system back to high temperatures will the
exchanger expand, releasing the debris into the
flow of pulsating hot oil. This Heated Cooler Line
Flusher offers a variety of options and adapters,
like a flowmeter, fluid purge valve, air purge valve,
tool tray and bracket and manual reverse valve.
The flusher includes a one-nut Oberg 64 micron
filter and the company’s new data acquisition.
Users push one button and get a printout with
fluid temperature, in and out pressure and rate of
flow, the company says.

Remove and re-install valve springs
The SP Tools Valve Spring Lock Down Tool, No. 91400B-LDT, has
been developed as an upgraded accessory for SP Tools’ Updated
Universal OHC Valve Spring Compressor (No. 91400B), which bolts to
the cylinder head and simplifies the process of removing and re-installing
valve springs. In operation, the Valve Spring Lock Down Tool keeps
the valve spring and retainer compressed for hands-free removal and
installation of the valve keepers. This tool is versatile and can be finetuned
and locked down to provide a hassle-free valve spring service.

Designed to reduce overall vehicle emissions
The Allison Automatic Transmission, No. TC10,
offers FuelSense, a package of software and electronic
controls that maximizes operational efficiency.
FuelSense features EcoCal, which provides lower
shift points to get into lock up as soon as possible,
providing necessary performance without shift
cycling; Dynamic Shift Sensing, which automatically
selects between lower/higher speed shift schedules
based on the vehicle’s actual payload and the
grade on which it is operating; Acceleration Rate
Management, which mitigates aggressive driving
by controlling engine torque based on the vehicle’s
grade and load; and Neutral At Stop, which automatically
eliminates the load on the engine when the
vehicle is at a full stop to save fuel and reduce overall
vehicle emissions.

Confirms proper mixture of DEF
Designed
for improved
fuel economy
The Single Module
by Cummins Emission
Solutions is designed to
be up to 60 percent smaller
and 40 percent lighter than previous
aftertreatment systems while also improving
emissions reduction performance. The compact
size helps improve heat management and retention
to help improve fuel economy, and the single-pass
exhaust flow delivers low back pressure. The UL2
Urea Dosing System does not require engine coolant
lines to and from the urea injector, helping make
chassis integration simpler, the company says. The
system is designed to offer more efficient atomization
of urea and minimized urea deposits, helping
reduce the number of regeneration events.

The Central Tools Combination Refractometer for Coolant, Battery and DEF, No. 3R401, is
designed to combine what is traditionally two products into one. The coolant scale reads from 20
degrees F to -60 degrees F for both ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. The battery scale reads
specific gravity from 1.10 to 1.40 and determines the charge state of either recharge, fair or good.
The addition of a scale for Urea (DEF) reads from 30 percent to 35 percent with a dominant line at
32.5 percent, which is the ratio required for proper operation of the emissions system. This tool
helps confirm the proper mixture of DEF as well as prevent coolant related problems.
