WELCOME TO ® 2 #FHExpo15 Dear Fellow Firefighters/Fire Officers On behalf of the entire team here at Firehouse, I’m honored to share with you the 2015 Firehouse Expo Conference Preview. It’s with great pride and heartfelt admiration that I announce to you that this year’s conference will be dedicated to our long time Editor-in-Chief, Harvey Eisner. Harvey passed away October 23, 2014 having served Firehouse for more than 35 years, 20 of which as our Editor-in-Chief. In recognition for his outstanding service and his unwavering dedication to the team here at Firehouse, our contributors, our readers, and our attendees, we will formally dedicate this year’s Expo to Harvey and share a special tribute to his life and career during our Opening Ceremony on Thursday, July 16th. As firefighters and fire officers, we oftentimes say that we have an obligation to leave the fire service better than we found it. It is with this thought in mind that we’ve invited some of our most iconic contributors to team up with the next generation of fire service leaders to help us promote the importance of “passing it forward” to the set the stage for future success. In addition to the more than 80 educational sessions being offered this year, we’re planning planning a comprehensive hands-on training program that will include numerous LIVE FIRE training opportunities for both firefighters and chief officers alike. Also new this year is the Street Smart – Personal Protection Program for Fire & EMS designed to teach you the skills required to defend yourself and your crew. One of the most exciting events added to this year’s conference is the 1st Annual Fire-Rescue Competition. This event will allow teams from all over the nation to compete against each other to determine who can perform the timed and graded skills in the safest and most efficient manner. The scenario for this year’s event will be a relay rescue requiring a five-person team to successfully search, package and extract a downed firefighter. I encourage you to register your team today and put your skills to the test. To make your experience more affordable and educational, our team has put together a variety of promotional pricing packages that will provide you with access to the educational sessions, the exhibit floor where you will see product debuts from leading fire service companies and many new programs such as: • The fast-paced “Rip and Run” tailboard training sessions specially designed as hand-off training sessions that can be used to conduct a training session or drill immediately when you return to the station. • The Fire Family Life Program, which is being presented in partnership with FirefighterWife.com. In this program firefighters and their families can engage in activities that are fun and informational and earn their Fire Family Certification along the way • The Firehouse “Fit for Duty” Initiative and the Fitness Showcase are daily fitness activities designed to emphasize the importance of firefighter health and fitness throughout the conference. • Moderated Panel Discussions featuring some of the most notable names in the fire service sharing their viewpoints on some of the most critical topics facing today’s firefighters/fire officers. I encourage you to check out our Discover Firehouse Expo registration information on page 5 for special pricing information and FirehouseExpo.com for the most up to date program information. I look forward to seeing you in Baltimore, until then, stay safe! Respectfully, Timothy E. Sendelbach Editor-in-Chief July 14–18, 2015 Baltimore Convention Center Baltimore, MD ® January 31 – February 4, 2016 San Diego Convention Center San Diego, CA TM
