SPECIAL EVENTS 1st Annual FIRE-RESCUE COMPETITION No Guts, No Glory – Do you have what it takes? The Firehouse Fire-Rescue Competition will consist of five person teams competing in ten, graded and timed events run in succession to simulate a common fire ground scenario. This year’s competition will be based on a downed firefighter scenario requiring a relay rescue to search, locate and extract the downed firefighter. The two teams with the fastest times will move on to the finals which will be held on the exhibit floor, Saturday, July 18th. The skills portion of the competition will consist of the following; • Command & Control Operations • Fireground Communications • Personnel Accountability and Reporting • Forcible Entry Techniques • Navigating a Diminishing Clearance Obstacle • Overcoming Entanglement Hazards • Up and Overs – Lifts and Carries • Wall Breach • Victim Search, Packaging and Removal • Restricted Opening Rescue and Removal Operations A FREE pre-conference training session will be provided ▲ the day before the competition for all registered teams. The training incudes: four (4) hours of classroom instruction and four (4) hours of hands-on training using the props that will be used during the competition on July 16. The goal of this competition is to provide an opportunity for firefighters from around the country to showcase their skills in a competitive venue, under a graded and timed format. The skills required to successfully complete the assigned tasks replicate those commonly performed during a normal firefighting or rescue operation. The team that performs the assigned tasks in the safest and most efficient manner will ultimately be crowned the National Champion. These sessions are designed to provide you with two distinct viewpoints based on the lessons learned from years of experience and the goals and objectives of a future generation.
