Enfocus Switch PDF Review Module Enfocus (Booth 2167) developed a new add-on Module for Enfocus Switch called the PDF Review Module. This module gives users an easy way to view PDFs, perform object-based inspection and review all from within an HTML5 based interface on a desktop or tablet. Enfocus has integrated CHILI rendro into their technology to create the Switch PDF Review Module. This Add-on Module for Enfocus Switch gives users an HTML5 Browser based PDF review tool. This new module combines the fl exibility of the browser with the powerful “PDF Inspect” features of the Switch solution. Bjorn Willems, Director of Product Management at Enfocus notes, “Thanks to the development efforts of our partner CHILI publish, we can give our users the control they want in the PDF review process from any desktop or tablet touchscreen. With the user in charge, the PDF review process is fundamentally changed, making it faster and more effective than has been previously possible. When it comes to reviewing PDFs, the Switch PDF Review Module changes everything.” The use of the PDF Review Module in Switch streamlines the review process. Once a PDF has been created, an email is sent to the reviewer with a link to the PDF. The user clicks the link and the PDF is opened in the browser. The person reviewing the PDF is presented with a fully confi gurable user interface, depending on their role and skill level. It could range from a very basic PDF preview with an Approve/Reject button on the bottom, to an expert view that includes tools such as Eyedropper, Separation view, and Wireframe. The expert view also allows the user to analyse individual objects within the PDF fi le, similar to the Inspector module of Switch. In both views, overprint is always honored and the users can customize these views with the customer’s logos and other brand identity. From there, the approver can choose to approve the fi le or not. If changes are required, the approver marks up corrections using a Sticky Note tool. The user then clicks on an “Approval/Not Approved” button that can be created based on the routing options from the confi gurator in Switch. This provides additional workfl ow fl exibility for the user. Willems continues, “The Switch PDF Review Module represents what is possible when you bring together the best technical solutions. And it’s just the beginning. The solution provides a platform for many other use cases, including online editing. This platform, combined with the innovation and collaboration expertise of Enfocus ensures we can meet the evolving demands of our users.” The PDF Review module will be released Q4 of this year. Goss M-600 Press Surpasses Expectations with First Installation of LED UV Drying Kinmei Printing Co. Ltd of Tokyo, Japan announced unprecedented results from a project featuring the fi rst ever LED-UV installation on a high-speed web offset press. Productivity from the company’s enhanced 16-page Goss (Booth 2731) M-600 press line is now surpassing all expectations. Goss International engineers from its Singapore headquarters project managed the operation to extend the capabilities of the ten-year-old M-600 press which involved re-confi guring to enable sheeted production as an alternative to running the existing folder. A new VITS sheeter was installed between the press and folder, and a web path was created to allow simple switching from sheeter to folder. At the same time, quality and effi ciency enhancements were introduced including a controls system upgrade and color registration system, as well as the replacement of infrared drying with LED UV. The 38" (965-mm) wide M-600 web press now features two LED UV units from Air Motion Systems (Booth 2825) positioned above and below the web. The enhanced confi guration has been in production since the end of 2015 and is now fully operational. According to Kinmei, the company has already benefi tted from new effi ciencies in both time and energy—ultimately improving the bottom line. Since installation, the faster drying process has produced 30,000 fi nished sheets per hour. The new confi guration has also achieved massive improvements in energy effi - ciency, delivering up to 70% reduction in energy consumed during this period. The new production fl exibility and effi - ciency of Kinmei’s M-600 confi guration means the company has been able to expand their print service offering. Whilst the Goss M-600 press is over ten years old, according to Shiro Tsukada, President, Kinmei, the press continues to deliver print quality of the highest level—now having been further boosted with the new UV drying system. “We have been impressed with the consistency and longevity of the M-600 over the years, and we are delighted to see the additional improvements that the new UV dryer has provided giving the press a new lease of life,” explains Tsukada. “With LED-UV drying, not only have we been able to substantially increase productivity, but have also been able to minimize many of the concerns associated with our previous infrared dryer. We are now matching the quality of sheetfed output with perfectly fl at sheets, while benefi tting from the much greater speed and productivity of web offset production.” “Kinmei Printing Co. is a highly valued and long-standing Goss customer, and we are committed to innovating and pushing boundaries to ensure that our customers’ products remain at the forefront of the industry in terms of effectiveness and productivity,” comments Tim Mercy, Managing Director, Goss Asia Pacifi c. “We are pleased to have enabled Kinmei to build its print capabilities and deliver best-in-class service to its customers. As word of mouth spreads the news of the massive gains they are achieving, we look forward to being able to help many more of our customers in the same way.” Installation at Kinmei Printing Co. marks world’s fi rst LED-UV drying system on a high speed web offset press. 10 | September 27, 2016 | GRAPH EXPO 16 Offi cial Show Daily | PrintingNews.com
