Product Spotlight Direct to Object Inkjet Printer The Xerox (Booth 1625) Direct to Object Inkjet Printer–a 2016 MUST SEE ‘EMS award winner–prints durable, vivid-color images directly on three-dimensional objects, eliminating the need for costly labels. Just 39x39", the printer supports a printable area of 2.8x13" and prints on plastics, metals, ceramics, and glass. It can print up to 10 colors (CMYKW plus specialty), at resolutions up to 1,200 dpi and at speeds up to 30 objects-per-hour. The inkjet printheads in the Direct to Object printer are compatible with virtually any type of ink chemistry including solvent, aqueous, and UV inks, and can be operated at temperatures as high as 284°F–enabling jetting of specialized inks that meet demanding requirements. The printer features a fl exible architecture for holders of the objects being printed, which can be easily changed out to switch between different object types. Additionally, operators can load a new object in a spare holder while another object is printing, maximizing operational effi ciency. 40 Inch Digital Sheetfed Press KBA Sheetfed Solutions, a business unit of the Koenig & Bauer Group (KBA) (Booth 1435), and Xerox (Booth 1625) developed an industrial digital sheetfed press for the folding carton market. The KBA VariJET 106 Powered by Xerox integrates Xerox Impika inkjet technology into the KBA Rapida 106 press platform. The modular KBA VariJET will permit the combination of conventional printing and fi nishing technologies with digital inkjet printing in a hybrid press. It can be confi gured with up to seven inkjet colors and it offers print speeds of up to 4,500 sph in 29.5x41.7" at 1,400 dpi per hour. Its modular concept enables the combination of digital inkjet printing with optional in-line capabilities such as printing units, coating, cold foil application, rotary die-cutting, creasing, and perforating. EFI is providing a platform that will enable print providers to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the growing textile printing market, reducing cost and cycle time for buyers of soft signage and other printed textile products. EFI eCommerce for Soft Signage is an out-of-the-box soft signage solution with sales, service, and support from a single provider. It consists of EFI Digital StoreFront, Fiery XF, and either an EFI VUTEk FabriVU or EFI Reggiani textile printer. Color Management Software HP (Booth 1825) Indigo has developed a suite of integrated tools designed to simplify and automate the color management process, allowing PSPs to maintain color consistency easily and systematically time after time between presses and between locations. The HP Indigo Color Management system starts with the media; an Inline Spectrophotometer scans a color chart to describe the individual color space of a specifi c substrate (the “Media Fingerprint”). The DFE then automatically generates a dedicated ICC profi le, ensuring accurate color matching of that specifi c substrate against a given color space, such as FOGRA, GRACoL, ISO 12647- 2, or similar. A three-dimensional look up table (LUT) is then used to regularly calibrate the press, automatically compensating for any variations in press conditions, returning it to the baseline established by the Media Fingerprint. This ensures the color output remains consistent. Media Fingerprints can be saved and shared between presses, sites, and over time, to ensure consistent, repeatable output, regardless of where or when the fi le is printed.
