Welcome to the House That Print Built A new “show me” feature that is debuting at this year’s GRAPH EXPO will welcome show visitors who are exploring new profi t opportunities into The House That Print Built. Debbie Vieder, the Director of Communications for NPES/GASC, sat down with us to share a sneak peek at what they will fi nd there. Unlike other specialty show fl oor sections at GRAPH EXPO 16, The House That Print Built isn’t demonstration centered. There will be no machines up and running; its thrust is different. Rather, it’s where some of today’s hottest print applications hit home. A handy “realtors guide” will be available at the booth for visitors to take and learn more. “Increasingly, printers who are producing items in their current niche have new opportunities, with their existing equipment they already have, to expand their service offerings into new markets,” said Vieder. “Rather than a place to examine the technology—which they will find amply demonstrated across the exhibition fl oor in individual supplier booths—here is where they can come to experience everyday printed applications that are all around us and consider potential new print profi t opportunities.” The new show floor feature will display graphics from the ground up with a goal of helping printers think beyond traditional ink on paper applications. It aims also to demonstrate how printing on various substrates can be used to give entirely new life to objects that we see and touch every single day. “It’s an inspiration zone,” Vieder noted. A few of the types of applications you should make a point to check out include: • Wall coverings • Window treatments • Furniture • Apparel • And more In keeping with the House theme, exhibitor representatives who contribute applications to the feature will be periodically be available there, or may be found at their individual booths to answer questions—with the real thrust of the House to give show visitors a chance to browse and be inspired. Each application will be listed on a “realtor fact sheet’ that will have detailed information about the application itself, the equipment used to produce it, substrates it was printed on, along with any other pertinent notes. It will also provide the manufacturer’s name and their booth number, for visitors who want to learn more to know where to go to get their specifi c questions answered. “We hope show visitors will come away from The House That Print Built energized, ‘thinking outside the box’, about the new products that they can produce today with technologies in their existing fl eet, and also get a sense that if making a purchase, what will give them the most versatility to expand service offerings in the direction they want to go,” said Vieder. Most printers already either have equipment in-house, or are in the process of purchasing new technology that can handle a wide range of creative applications. It’s just a matter of opening the door to consider the possibilities at The House That Print Built (Booth 2566), that will welcome visitors throughout the duration of the show.
