Implications of what new technology
solutions bring to the security
industry also come with myriad
caveats. As we make exponential
advances in understanding how
to incorporate these solutions
into the real world, it is imperative
the security industry successfully
implements strategic planning
and adaptive roadmaps or systems
integrators will lose control of the
promise of technological innovation.
The future of disruptive technology
and its impact on security is
coming from every science – AI
and Advanced Machine Learning
to Intelligent Apps and Intelligent
Things; from Virtual and Augmented
Reality to Blockchain; from
Mesh Apps to Adaptive Security
Architecture. But integrators aren’t
concerned with science fi ction at
present.
When survey respondents were
asked what they view as the major
and key technology disrupters
in the security industry today,
their top three answers included
Cybersecurity (48%), Cloudbased
Services (40%) and Mobile
Apps (32%). But the trio of top
disruptive solutions was followed
by at least fi ve other technologies or
phenomena that fi gures to change
the way integrators will approach
business in the next fi ve to seven
years. The Internet of Things (31%),
Social Media (28.7%), Wireless Smart
Edge Devices (24.7%) and Big Data/
Data Mining (22%) were close behind.
