2017 STATE OF THE SECURITY INDUSTRY REPORT
Technology Implementation
and Planning
Respondents were asked if they planned and implemented solutions for both
video surveillance and IP-centric video, along with access control and electrifi ed
door hardware. The responses to both questions were overwhelmingly positive.
Here is the breakdown per technology.
Does your company plan and implement
solutions for network video surveillance
such as network security cameras, hardware
NVRs, video encoders
or IP video surveillance
management software?

hosted video solutions?
Integrators Offer
Traditional Solutions,
New Options
The options are many when it comes
to current technology solutions, and
most integrators offer traditional
video and access control solutions.
But many are moving into more
software-centric and managed
solutions.
An overwhelming number of
integrators said they plan and
implement the full spectrum of
video surveillance solutions that are
network-centric. Almost 85% are
providing network video surveillance
such as network security cameras,
hardware NVRs, video encoders or
IP video surveillance management
software while just 15% are primarily
analog-based providers. Less than 15
years ago those fi gures would have
been reversed. Interestingly enough,
cloud technology has also gained a
foothold in video surveillance, with
47% of integrators saying they are
either planning in the near future
or currently offering hosted video
solutions.
The gradual shift from
predominantly access control
technology fi rms to video is evident
as 80% of integrators now say they
plan and implement for Electronic
Access Control such as software
and hardware, readers and panels,
hosted/managed systems, wireless
systems, electrifi ed door hardware
or mobile access control apps – 5%
less than video.
