While some of similar threats dog
residential integrators that currently
face their commercial counterparts,
one major difference is apparent –
the growing world of Do-it-Yourself
homeowners.
According to SecurityInfoWatch.com,
total DIY security users will grow at
an annual rate of 71.5% from 2014 to
2020. Monitored DIY subscribers will
grow 53.4% in the same period. The
DIY Smart Security market is growing
at a considerable rate through direct
and consumer retail channels and this
growth will continue with or without
traditional security participation.
Nearly 63% of survey respondents
reported that the exploding DIY
consumer base will be there most
impactful business consideration in
2017 and moving forward.
Residential-heavy integrators also
saw threats to business coming
from outside sources. Nearly 34%
said the growing number of phone
and telecom providers entering the
industry was concerning, as was
bundled options from cable providers
according to 32% of respondents.
